Two Gamecock Legends. On Sunday we were honored to be able to present to the USC fans in attendance USC Legends BOB FULTON and TATUM GRESSETTE. Bob, long known as "The Voice of the Gamecocks" has spent over 50 years working with the Gamecock sports programs broadcasting audio images to fans in baseball, basketball and football. Tatum's legacy includes coming to USC and leading the Cocks to a victory over Clemson in 1920 with his dropkick. Mr. Gressette was also the founder in 1940 of the Buck A Month (B.A.M.) club which eventually became what is now the Gamecock Club! Gressette is a member of four halls of fame.
Prominent sports artist TED HAMLIN was on hand to present to Gamecock QB MIKE HOLD the original artwork for his creation HOLD THAT TIGER. Ted, a USC alum, has created classic artwork images ranging from Frank McGuire's 500th Victory to the classic ROGERS WINS HEISMAN. Ted is also well known for his golf images including SUNDAY IN AUGUSTA, one of the largest selling golf art images of all time! Mike Hold helped lead the Gamecock squad to the greatest season in school history in 1984 and was the winner of the ESPN PLAY OF THE YEAR with his scrambling touchdown in the victory over Notre Dame in South Bend!
Also on hand was USC running back legend KEVIN LONG seen here with show promoter MIKE SAFRAN. Kevin was not only the Gamecock's first 1000 yard back but was actually the first African American back in school history. Kevin enjoyed a great professional career with the New York Jets in the NFL and USFL franchises in Chicago and Arizona!
